South Bend has you covered when it comes to the most important meal of the day. Here's where you can find great breakfast in the city.

A good breakfast is an important part of starting your morning off right, and fortunately, South Bend offers plenty of tasty ways to launch the perfect morning! Check out these five local favorites from our real estate agents.

  • PEGGS — 127 South Michigan Street
    For over two decades, PEGGS has been serving South Bend residents with that perfect blend of country diner and small-town eatery. Located close to South Bend homes for sale, this popular breakfast spot offers a variety of traditional favorites, everything you'd hope to see at a breakfast restaurant: Belgian waffles, chicken and waffles, pancakes, and French toast. You'll also find "newer" favorites such as avocado toast, breakfast sandwiches, and breakfast tacos. PEGGS also offers a lunch menu with the usual suspects, such as burgers, sandwiches, and chicken tenders, plus "brunch bundles," which are built to serve the entire table.

  • The Early Bird Eatery — 117 East Wayne Street
    For "elevated" brunch options, check out this popular local eatery owned by an enterprising and breakfast-minded husband and wife. Everything is made from scratch, even their hollandaise! Choose from traditional favorites with a twist, such as delicious omelets, reinvented breakfast hash, and of course, scratch-made Eggs Benedict. They also offer a chance to try different flavors, such as shrimp and grits, breakfast poutine, and huevos rancheros. On the sweeter side, you'll find decadent dishes like peaches and cream French toast and blueberry lemon pancakes. As their name implies, make sure you get there early, as they stop serving at 2 pm every day!

  • Yellow Cat Cafe — 808 East Colfax Avenue
    For a great variety of both breakfast and lunch options served until closing at 2 pm, check out Yellow Cat Cafe. This local eatery features a wide variety of menu options with plenty of ways to customize. In the mood for breakfast? Choose from omelets, skillets, biscuits and gravy, eggs and hash, and breakfast sandwiches. Lunch options include burgers, sandwiches, and subs. Also be sure to check out the meals that they're known in the community for, such as their breakfast burritos and their German special (eggs scrambled into American Fries, who knew?). Yellow Cat Cafe also offers catering and carry-out, so if you just moved in and don't have the bandwidth to cook yet, you can bring breakfast home!

  • Top Notch — 22858 Lincolnway West
    If you want your breakfast to be the best, then obviously, you need to check out Top Notch. Here you'll find meals like the Meat Lover's Skillet, loaded with plenty of bacon, ham, and sausage. Or you can choose from a variety of other skillets, egg and meat combos (with three eggs!), omelets, croissant breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, French toast, and Belgium waffles. For something extra special, check out their crepes, with both sweet and savory options. With a menu this diverse, there's something for everyone!

  • Nick's Patio — 1710 North Ironwood Drive
    Not a morning person? That's okay! Even night owls deserve a good breakfast, whether you start your day late or just prefer your breakfast for dinner. For eggs and bacon served any time of day or night, check out Nick's Patio. They're open 24 hours and so is their breakfast menu! Choose from a variety of omelets, different flavors of pancakes, French toast, waffles, and skillets. You'll also find filling breakfast-inspired meals such as pork chops or hamburger steaks paired with eggs.
