Craving freshly crafted ingredients between toasted bread? Here are the South Bend spots to find the best sandwiches.

Did you know that National Sandwich Day is November 3rd? While this may seem like a strange occasion to celebrate, no one can deny that sandwiches are a life-changing cuisine. Supposedly the Earl of Sandwich ordered the first sandwich so that he could play cards without greasy fingers or utensils. This convenient meal was named after him, or rather, his little English town.

Whether you're playing cards or just enjoying a classic favorite, there are plenty of places in South Bend where you can get a quality sandwich. Here are a few local favorites our real estate agents recommend.

    Enjoy a selection of sandwiches at this local favorite. They offer a selection of farmhouse subs, meat and cheese paninis, Italian subs, and a scrumptious triple-cheese grilled cheese. Pair your sandwich with a classic Italian soda and finish off the meal with their homemade gelato! Best yet, go to Mamma's for lunch to celebrate National Sandwich Day, and take home a lasagna for an easy dinner that evening.

  • Bistro 933 - 53995 Indiana State Route 933
    Sandwiches don't have to be provincial! You can celebrate National Sandwich Day at a top-notch restaurant, and we won't say a word. Check out Bistro 933 for a tasteful menu featuring small and large plates, soups and salads, and (you guessed it) a few sandwich options. Enjoy your sandwich with a small plate as an appetizer, a full selection of beer and wine, and a top-notch dessert menu.

  • Scoobies - 223 North Main Street, Mishawaka
    Located in nearby Mishawaka, Scoobies is a local lunch spot known for their toasted subs. They offer a wide variety of subs, from traditional options such as meatball, Italian, and pizza subs, to generous local favorites such as the Scoobie club, capicola super, and a BLT club that boasts a half-pound of bacon! For those in your party not interested in celebrating National Sandwich Day with you, Scoobies also has a variety of salads, burgers, flatbread pizzas, and pasta on their menu.
